Like-New Shitan Nobezao Tsugaru Shamisen (Ships from California)

Description

Shitan is one of the prized woods for shamisen, known for it’s luscious dark color and rich, clear warmth.

What makes this particular shamisen especially rare is the sao: it is crafted from a single, continuous piece of shitan. Most shamisen use a mitsuori (three-piece) neck for practical reasons, and a nobezao (single-piece neck) is uncommon on its own — but a nobezao cut from a single piece of shitan is a genuine rarity. The entire sao is then finished with urushi lacquer, giving it a deep, lustrous surface that is both beautiful and durable.

This is a used instrument from Bachido’s inventory, in like-new condition, shipping directly from California.

Condition

Like-new, with minor scuff marks on the dou. Playability and tone are unaffected. It has a very faint wear on the top of the sao. Noticeable enough to the eye to be called “wear”, but it’s only noticeable due to the high polish of the neck. It won’t affect the tone or playing in any way.
