This Eclipse is not a new instrument from the store — it’s Kyle’s personal shamisen! The one he’s brought on stage, set up in front of cameras, and played in front of audiences across Japan and the North America. If you’ve spent any time on the Bachido YouTube channel, you’ve probably already seen it in action in his DaFAQ series or many other videos.

There’s something genuinely meaningful about owning the instrument that a performer has poured their artistry into. This isn’t a display piece (but it would look nice as one!), it’s been played at a high level, in real performances. It has a history, and now that history can be yours!

Why It’s Being Sold

While this Eclipse is one of Kyle’s favorite shamisen, he is selling it to help fund Waves of Harmony, his world fusion music project dedicated to bridging traditional Japanese instruments with musical traditions from around the globe. If you’ve ever wanted to support that work, this is a pretty wonderful way to do it — and you get an incredible shamisen in return.

One-of-a-Kind Feature: Built-In Electronic Tuner

Here’s something you won’t find on any Eclipse in the store: Kyle has installed an electronic tuner directly into the dou!

No fumbling for a clip-on tuner. No balancing something on the tenjin before a performance. The tuner is right there, built into the body — clean, discreet, and incredibly practical for both live performance and practice.

The Instrument Itself

For those unfamiliar with the Eclipse, a quick summary: it’s built from rare tochikarin (tiger stripe karin) wood, finished with Tokyo Wagakki’s renowned two-week polishing technique — no lacquers, no colorings, just the deep natural glow of the wood itself. The sao is topped with solid high-grade kouki, which flows seamlessly through the tenjin in a detail that only master craftsmen could pull off.

The shamisen is in like-new condition for the most part. The sao has recently been replaned and the sawari yama as been resharpened, so the playing experience is that of a brand new instrument. The only damage is a very miniscule shallow chip on the bottomside of one of the joints (shown in the photos), almost unnoticeable.
